Agency Galatea® Model and Artist Management
Marie is frequently asked, “Where did the word ‘Galatea’ come from?” and “Why did you choose it for your agency’s name?” Galatea comes from the love story of Pygmalion and Galatea in Greek mythology. Pygmalion was a sculptor who labored long and devotedly on a statue of the “perfect” woman. As Pygmalion created the statue, he began to fall hopelessly in love with her. He realized the more he loved her, the more beautiful she became. Pygmalion’s love for the statue was so strong that to him she was alive and worthy of a name. Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, witnessed the strength of his love and turned the statue into a living, breathing woman. Pygmalion’s dream came to life. Overcome with the stunning beauty of his new love, Pygmalion named her Galatea.
During the process of naming her agency, Marie discovered that the story of Pygmalion and Galatea mirrors her approach to transforming models through empowerment. Marie guides aspiring models in discovering and capitalizing on their most striking features while teaching them to honor their inner beauty for total confidence. Just as Galatea was carefully developed and then came to life, enrapturing Pygmalion, Marie’s approach helps models transform themselves into their own most beautiful creations.
